The Children's Sermon by Anne Selden [Annab]

The Children's Sermon

Filled with spirit
all his words
waltz with air:
The children fill the nave;
stand starring up at him
like a field flowing
with various wild flowers-
His words sparkle
like sunshine
on their small bodies
as they sway
listening.

He holds two rocks
tells them of the stream
that smooths the stone
shapes it
that glistening flow-
the gentle strength
of water on our lives
in our lives
shinning
and the flame
flickers in eyes ignited.

as elements of this earth
shepherd heaven's birth
in a child's soul.
