I've Dressed by Anne Selden [Annab]

I've Dressed

I've dressed in symbols;
lace at my throat
and Cinderella at my wrist.
A bride in brown
for the earth is my soul
and ivory for purity
or perhaps piano keys.
Black shoes for the shadows
left where I walk.
A brown leaf in my hair.
White underclothes.
A tapestry bag
woven flowers
in earthy tones,
it's black inside
like a vacuum
tucked round
my pocket calendar.
