The White Feather by Anne Selden Annab

The White Feather

A white feather
in a library book
falls out to fluff and float;
descent combs
its quill.
A small curved feather
perhaps from under wing.
Where have these words been,
what shape, what form?
Have the strokes
been sketched
by this feather's flight?

What winged creature
came to read these words.

What person found this plume
and treasured it.

Or perhaps, it simply escaped
from a soft pillow
as some stranger slipped off
into a dream.
