Skyline Drive by Anne Selden [Annab]

Skyline Drive

Winding up
a thread of road
that's been woven
through
the woods-
the Blue Ridge
has turned to trees,
lushly green.
A magic doe,
her fur the color
of a fallen leaf,
nibbles foliage.
She looks up,
blinking brown eyes.
The shutter snips a shot
as I cut images
out of endless curves
that curl catching
twigs trembling
with a bird's release
and leaves
swilled with light
shadows splash
deeper, as we drive
and the road rims
Blue ridges
turned to trees.
